Giving back to community has always been an important part of who I am.

Over the years, I have been fortunate to serve in a variety of volunteer roles supporting students, families, and public education within the North Vancouver school district. My involvement began at the school level (Seymour Heights), where I connected with other parents and caregivers who shared a common goal: creating positive and enriching experiences for students. Those experiences showed me the value of community involvement and the important role families play in building strong and inclusive communities.

As my involvement grew, so did my interest in how families, schools, and the district can work together to support student success. This led me to parent leadership roles, including serving as Chair of the North Vancouver District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) (NVPAC). In this role, I worked alongside Parent Advisory Councils across the school district to facilitate communication, share information, and encourage meaningful dialogue among families, educators, and district leadership.

In 2024, I was honoured to receive the George Matthews Award for Excellence in Parent Leadership from the British Columbia Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils (BCCPAC), recognizing my commitment to supporting students, families, PACs, and school communities throughout North Vancouver.

What I value most about community involvement is the opportunity to listen, learn, and build connections. Every family brings unique experiences and perspectives, and I believe our schools are strongest when people feel heard, respected, and included.

Through my volunteer work, I have built lasting relationships with parents, educators, district staff, trustees, and community partners. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the diverse needs and strengths within our school communities across North Vancouver and reinforced my belief that collaboration is essential to student success.

I am committed to fostering welcoming, inclusive, and connected school communities where every student and family feels valued, welcomed and heard. I believe in working collaboratively with Indigenous communities, students, staff, families, and community partners to ensure diverse voices help shape decisions and create opportunities for every learner.
